A fine and rare gents Audemars Piguet ref. 5113BC automatic wrist watch in white gold, circa 1959. The 18kt white gold case measures 34.5mm excluding the original crown and features a high polished bezel with a brushed concave case band as well as a screw down case back. The case is in overall excellent condition. The satin silver dial remains in very good condition retaining its factory finish, with high polished pointed bar hour indices topped with lume pips. Time is indicated via the original white gold hour and minute hands tipped with luminous. Center sweep seconds. Signed “AUDEMARS, PIGUET”, “GENÈVE”, “SWISS”.
Powering the watch is an Audemars Piguet self-winding caliber K2071 with 29 jewels and adjusted to temperatures and positions. The K2071 is widely considered one of the finest automatic movements produced and was designed to compete directly with the Patek caliber 12-600 and caliber 27-460. The movement is clean, running very well and keeping excellent time.
