A fine and very rare gents rectangular Audemars Piguet wristwatch in yellow gold, circa 1953. 1953 was a special year for Audemars Piguet as it marked the arrival of design legend Gerald Genta. Genta went on to design every Audemars Piguet wristwatch produced from 1953 until the release of the Royal Oak two decades later. The rectangular 18kt yellow gold case measures 26mm wide excluding the crown by 27mm high and 34.5mm lug to lug, with stepped sides featuring a brushed finish. The case is unpolished with its original finishes intact and displays minor wear throughout. Factory original silver dial with elongated deco style applied gold bars with attractive rainbow age toning marking the hours and original gold baton hands. Minor aging to outside edges and bottom left corner. Signed “AUDEMARS, PIGUET”, “GENEVE”, “SWISS”.
The original Audemars Piguet caliber 9/10 RSQ has been immaculately preserved. It features eighteen (18) jewels and has been adjusted to temperatures and four (4) positions. The watch is winding, running well and keeping time.
Delivered on a modern leather strap with gold plated buckle.
