A fine and very rare rectangular gents Audemars Piguet wristwatch in yellow gold, circa 1946. The solid 18kt yellow gold case measures 24mm wide excluding the original crown and 32mm high and features a rectangular bezel with vertical brushing pattern, contrasting high polished sides and angled recessed lugs. The case remains in excellent condition with deep, pronounced hallmarks. A satin silver dial displays only minor aging and features applied indexes in gold. In the center are a set of AP’s signature baton hands in yellow gold with a subsidiary seconds register at 6 o’clock. Dial signed “AUDEMARS, PIGUET”, “GENÈVE”, “SWISS”.
Inside the watch is a tonneau-shaped Audemars Piguet hand-winding caliber 9/10 RSQ with 8 adjustments and 18 jewels. The movement has been beautifully finished with Geneva stripes, black polished components and anglage in typical Audemars Piguet fashion. The movement is in good condition, is winding, running well and keeping time.
