An early Gallet MultiChron 12H “pre-Jim Clark”, circa the late 1940’s or early 1950’s. Gallet’s watchmaking roots run deep, tracing back centuries to the year 1466. For perspective, Leonardo DaVinci could have owned a Gallet, as he was born in 1452 and lived until 1519. Today the marque remains the worlds oldest watchmaker still in operation.
This example features a scarce and desirable gloss black dial with galvanized silver “gilt” reverse markings, to which age has lent a hint of tropical brown. Outer telemeter scale, 1/5 seconds track and 12H chronograph counter. The solid stainless steel case remains unpolished in very good overall condition, and measures 36mm excluding the original crown. The crown is slightly tilted as seen in the photos but is structurally sound and fully functional. Excelsior Park EP 40 column wheel chronograph movement is winding, running well and keeping time, with all functions operating properly.
Delivered on a modern leather strap with generic steel buckle.
