THE STORY
Every so often we come across a company who’s heritage and contributions to horology have flown under the radar. Alpina we feel is one such company. Founded in 1883 by Gottlieb Hauser, Gottlieb’s vision was to revolutionize watchmaking by forming a union of skilled workers enabling watches to be manufactured to the highest standards. Impressively the brand was manufacturing its own ebauches by 1890. In todays hot vintage market Alpina’s well designed, quality built timepieces and in house movements offer collectors massive value.
THE WATCH
A well preserved gents Alpina watch in stainless steel from the 1950’s. The case measures 34.3mm excluding the original unsigned crown and features a screw in back. Sharp original lug bevels. Original silver dial with applied indices in excellent condition. Black printed logo. Original silver stick hands and center seconds hand.
Original in house hand winding caliber 598 with 16 jewels. Clean, winding and running well and keeping excellent time.
This vintage Alpina wristwatch is paired with a dark blue leather strap and stainless steel buckle.
