MILUS ARCHIMEDES SUPER COMPRESSOR DIVER | 1960 | ETA 2472 | STEEL

While most may not be familiar with Milus, the Bienne, Switzerland based brand has been making high end wrist and pocket watches since 1919 and is still in business today.  

This rare Milus Archimedes Super Compressor diver is a lesson in late 1950’s – early 60’s diver design.  The original steel super compressor case is in very good condition and is 36mm excluding the original crosshatched crowns.  Gloss black dial has a light, even age spotting.  Large lume plackets mark the hours with triangle details and arabic numerals at 6, 9 and 12.  The signature Super Compressor inner rotating bezel is black with silver indices.  The original arrow hour and minute hands and lollipop seconds hand are present with a date window at 3 o’clock.  

The self winding ETA 2472 found in this watch was cutting edge technology in the 60’s with bi-directional winding and was capable of chronometer grade performance thanks to a design that allowed precise regulation.  The service history is unknown but the watch is winding, running smoothly and keeping excellent time.
